How to get your SteamID

Sometime in I believe 2015, there was a source engine update which changed the how the "status" command outputs. It use to output everyone in the server's SteamID but now it outputs your Unique ID instead which is another SteamID but not the SteamID we use and would like on your profile when you sign up or when you apply for admin and so on. So just to clear things up, I'm writing a quick 'updated' guide on how to get your SteamID. Hopefully alot of people having trouble will see this and can get their SteamID simply.

There is a few ways of going about this, but let's use the simplest and quickest way: your profile URL. Whether it'd be the numbers or your custom profile url, both will work and is what you want for this process.

My Profile would be steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198042391637/ or steamcommunity.com/id/gamingtothemax. You only need the ending identifier for this process.

Now that you've gotten your profile identifier, you're going to want to go to 1 of the 3 sites:

steamrep.com -- This isn't actually specifically meant for the purpose but they have the function, so I'm listing them anyway. Just input either profile identifier and your good to go. You want what's listed as 'SteamID32'.

steamidfinder.com -- Just input either profile identitifer and it'll output the SteamID.

steamid.io -- This appears to be what use to be steamidconverter.com (My personal favorite). Same thing, just input either identifier and your good to go. You want the 'SteamID' from the output list.

After all following all the respective steps, you should now have your SteamID which would look something like this:

STEAM_0:1:41062954

This is a unique identifier which is widely used throughout source engine games such as Counter-Strike:Source or Team Fortress 2. Everyone's is different, and some are even shorter than others. The shorter IDs generally (to my knowledge) come from much older accounts. (Probably only accounts made like over 10 years ago. 11-12+) So don't be alarmed if you get a SteamID like 'STEAM_0:0:52891'.  There's even shorter ones but I believe those are pretty much the same guidelines but they are valve staff members... you're probably not one... so :P

Punishment Progression for Admins

You MUST follow this progression of punishment if a CT is freekilling.

  • (Freeze->Warn)->(Slay->Warn)->CTBan*
(Anything inside of parenthesis are to be done at the same time. Each Admin Command MUST be followed by a Warning.)

You CAN follow this progression for anything else (other than hackers). This is a catch-all progression.

  • (Warn)->(Freeze->Warn)->(Slay->Warn)->(Kick->Warn)->Ban*
(The first warning is optional. Anything inside of parenthesis are to be done at the same time. Each Admin Command MUST be followed by a Warning.)

Alternatively, you should use this for spammers/ghosters/racism.

  • Warn->(Gag/Mute->Warn)->Permanant Gag/Mute*

(Permanant Gag and Mutes are only to be used for people who try and evade your gag/mute.)

You are not required to follow only the punishment progressions here, but IF you are going to slay/kick/ban..you MUST follow one of the first two progressions.

You are receiving admin to make sure users follow the rules.

You are NOT receiving it so that you can have fun with Admin Commands.

Good Examples:

  • CTBanning freekillers.
  • Freezing a loser in an LR.
  • Muting/Gagging Spammers.
  • Banning Hackers.
  • Teleporting players that are stuck.
  • Respawning freekilled players.

Bad Examples:

  • Abusing freekillers.
  • Burning a loser in an LR.
  • Spawning guns for yourself.
  • Punishing someone for "Admin Disrespect".
  • Respawning yourself if you were not freekilled.

A note I'd like to add, you are still free to judge accordingly to your own jurisdiction, but judge wisely. You shouldn't end up in a position where it seems like you skipped a step such as issuing a warning.

General Discussion / Be Back Soon
« on: July 03, 2016, 08:24:29 pm »
I kinda went mia all of a sudden and the reasoning behind this is because my internet is currently out. Our "family handyman" was working outside and cutting some shrubbery. Unfortunately amongst it, unkownst to him as well as my family, there was a cable in the midsts and he accidentally snipped it. It cut out my mom's cable and the internet.

I'll be back next Wednesday (The 6th) hopefully, when the cable company comes to fix it.

Borrowing my mom's phone to make this post, using her mobile service since I don't have my service of my own. I planned to logon steam and edit my profile but I can't get in since I can't verify the mobile guard code since I don't have Wi-Fi to use the app on my phone.

Old Updates / Server Update 5/15/14
« on: May 15, 2014, 07:20:52 pm »
Source Engine Updated (CS:S,TF2,DOD:S,HL2:DM)

Quote from: Valve
Updates to Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch have been released. The updates will be applied automatically. The major changes include:

Source Engine Changes (CS:S, DoD:S, TF2, HL2:DM)
Fixed the skybox on 3rd party maps when using certain sky materials
In Hammer, while using the Vertex Tool, pressing CTRL+B will snap selected vertices to the grid
Allow about:blank in the MOTD
Marked mat_texture_list as a cheat to prevent client exploits
Removed the sv_voicecodec convar because it isn’t necessary anymore and was being used as an exploit
Updated the con_logfile convar to checking for invalid filenames
Updated the network resource download path to check for invalid filenames
Updated the plugin_load command
Servers can only load plugins if they are not running a map
Clients can only load plugins if they are not connected to a server

So just as a pre-warning , if the server goes down and comes back up , it's because of the Source Engine Update. RPG JB went down for this a few minutes ago and I believe MiniGames as well, unaware of GG and Reg JB, so if you get disconnected, just update your CS:S and rejoin.

Update: All servers have been updated,so just make sure your CS:S is updated before joining.

Update 2: Some stuff was broken by the Source Engine Update. Have to wait until sourcemod updates, can't give a said date on when this will be.

Update 3: Problems should be no longer occuring, tested and LRs/Beacon/SprayTracer/Tracers are working again.
